Help us turn out voters in Alaska to get out the vote and win! Grassroots efforts are gaining momentum, and we are looking for a dedicated team of canvassers to help us reach voters who deserve to have their voices heard in this election, in partnership with The Alaska Center Education Fund. From now through Election Day, our team is connecting directly with voters in public areas to mobilize voters to remind their social circles to vote, encouraging people to get out and vote and make their voices heard. 

The Alaska Center Education Fund encourages Alaskans of all ages to be active proponents of the Environment and their local communities. This is accomplished through education, local grassroots organizing programs, and civic engagement. The Alaskan Center Education Fund is committed to a healthier and more sustainable state.

This role is a great opportunity to gain experience in the following areas: Leadership, Communication & Advocacy, Community Outreach & Engagement, Campaign Work, Public Policy, and Social Enterprise.

Get paid well! Canvassing positions start at $28/hour. Team Lead positions start at $30/hour. We offer overtime pay, $75 bonus for working 7 days a week, $150 friend referral bonus, $100 for working 8 hours on Sat/Sun, and additional bonuses for picking up long, and double shifts.

Locations: Anchorage, Fairbanks, & Kodiak AK

We are hiring immediately, all positions run through November 3 with possibilities for advancement afterwards. Shifts run from 10AM - 8PM weekdays and weekends with the possibility to work part-time or full-time.

Canvasser Responsibilities ($28/hr):

• Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner
• Deliver a compelling campaign message, and collect complete survey answers from voters using an app on your phone 
• Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills
• Follow the campaign's safety protocols

Team Leader Responsibilities ($30/hr):

• The Canvasser Responsibilities plus:
• Manage a small group of canvassers out in the field by checking in with them periodically throughout the day, and debriefing with them at the end of the day
• Ensure each canvasser has all of the materials they need to be successful
• Assist directors with canvasser training and administrative work

The ideal candidate:

• Passionate about progressive politics and fostering democracy
• Strong communication skills; you should enjoy working with other people and be willing and excited to speak with everyone
• Hard worker who will stay motivated to engage as many people as possible
• Tech competent, and able to navigate multiple apps on your phone while maintaining conversations with voters. 
• Culturally competent and able to respectfully engage with teammates and the community
• Prior canvassing experience is preferred, but not required.
