Junior Software Developer

ASR International Corp is seeking a Junior Software Developer to join the ASR IT Systems Team at our Corporate Headquarters in Hauppauge, NY. This full-time, on-site, entry-level position offers an outstanding opportunity for a motivated individual to develop technical and professional skills while contributing to the design, development, and enhancement of business systems that support company operations and programs of national importance. The selected candidate will have opportunities to gain experience with enterprise application development, business process automation, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, AI-powered solutions, and broader IT operations in support of critical business operations across the full software development lifecycle. This is not a remote position and only local candidates will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of internal business systems, software applications, web applications, websites, integrations, and business process automation solutions, including Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiatives.
• Work with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate business needs into effective technical solutions that improve business operations and efficiency.
• Develop and maintain APIs, database queries, reports, and system integrations.
• Participate in software testing, code reviews, and quality assurance activities to ensure reliable and maintainable solutions.
• Apply secure coding and cybersecurity best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve software, application, and data-related issues.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, knowledge base articles, user guides, and training materials for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Research and evaluate new technologies, tools, and techniques to support continuous improvement and innovation.
• Provide technical support and assistance related to internally developed applications, business systems, and other IT initiatives as needed.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to continuously learn and improve in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Familiarity with software development practices and modern computing environments, including Git-based version control, SQL databases, APIs, Linux, cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS, virtualization, containerization, and secure coding principles.
• Knowledge of programming, scripting, automation, and software development concepts, including experience with at least one programming or scripting language.
• Hands-on experience with full-stack (front-end and back-end) modern web application and API development using technologies such as PHP, Python, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies independently and apply them to solve business problems.
• Must be a United States citizen, with the ability to pass a background investigation and obtain a security clearance as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with JavaScript frameworks / libraries such as React.js, Node.js, and Next.js is a plus.
• Experience / familiarity with business process automation and scripting for Microsoft 365, including Power Automate, SharePoint site design and development, and PowerShell / Python scripting using the Microsoft Graph API is a plus.
• Experience with prompt engineering and integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools into business processes.
