ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

The Shift Coordinator at the Franklin County Community Based Correctional Facility (CBCF) oversees Central Control Resident Advisors, Float Resident Advisors, and daily facility operations, including safety, security, sanitation, and grounds maintenance. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Shift Coordinator ensures schedules are followed, residents comply with facility rules, and operations run efficiently.

The Shift Coordinator promotes the safety and security of residents, staff, volunteers, and visitors through effective supervision, operational oversight, and incident response. The position also assists the Operations Manager with investigations, problem-solving, and departmental initiatives while ensuring compliance with DRC and ACA standards, PREA requirements, facility policies, and applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

WORK HOURS:  12 hour shifts; 5:30 am-5:30 pm or 5:30 pm-5:30 am; evenings and weekends required; Subject to mandated overtime; 84 hour alternating biweekly schedule; Volunteer overtime opportunities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, talking, listening, and reaching with hands and arms. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, operate standard office equipment, and maintain sufficient mobility to perform required security procedures and facility inspections.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Shift Coordinators must be able to type 20 words per minute and have proficient computer skills. A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field is preferred. Two years of corrections experience and one year of supervisory experience are preferred. Candidates must possess strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. A valid Ohio driver’s license and a good driving record are required.
