Position Summary

BLOX is seeking a Buyer to strengthen production procurement across our Bessemer manufacturing operations. This role ensures that what we order arrives when promised, owning supplier acknowledgment, order follow-up, expediting, and receiving resolution for critical-path materials, while supporting purchase order placement across Plant 1, Plant 2, MODs, and Kanban replenishment. The Buyer works closely with planning, production, receiving, accounts payable, and program teams to protect schedule certainty on our healthcare and data center projects.

Job Responsibilities

• Own supplier order acknowledgment and ship-date confirmation for critical-path and long-lead purchase orders

• Maintain a daily past-due and at-risk purchase order report from Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and review it with planning and production

• Follow up with suppliers on open orders to confirm promised dates, identify slippage early, and negotiate recovery dates

• Own expedite decisions, including evaluating the cost trade-off between expediting and resequencing

• Place and revise purchase orders to support production across Plant 1, Plant 2, MODs, and Kanban replenishment

• Manage scrum card maintenance and turnaround in step with the production cadence

• Resolve receiving discrepancies, short shipments, and invoice mismatches at the source in coordination with receiving and accounts payable

• Serve as the procurement point of contact for program teams on material status, open orders, and delivery risk

• Support sourcing, supplier communication, and supplier relationship management alongside the senior buyers

• Provide coverage for procurement activities during planned absences and volume increases

• Track and report procurement metrics, including on-time delivery, PO acknowledgment rates, past-due lines, expedited freight spend, and open receiving discrepancies

• Perform additional duties as assigned

Job Skills & Qualifications

• Experience as a buyer, purchasing agent, or procurement professional in a manufacturing or construction environment

• Working knowledge of the purchasing cycle, including PO placement, revisions, supplier follow-up, receiving, and invoice reconciliation

• Experience using an ERP/MRP system for purchasing; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central preferred

• Familiarity with Kanban or pull-based replenishment systems

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high volume of purchase order lines and priorities

• Proactive, follow-through-driven approach to supplier communication and issue resolution

• Ability to evaluate cost and schedule trade-offs and make sound expedite recommendations

• Clear, professional communication with suppliers and internal program teams

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field preferred

• APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP) preferred
