About the Opportunity

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Licensed Psychologist to join the mental health team at a correctional healthcare facility in Tutwiler, Mississippi.

This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing essential psychological services to individuals in a secure institutional setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background in psychological assessments, individualized treatment planning, crisis intervention, and behavioral health counseling.

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure patients receive comprehensive, coordinated mental health care.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct comprehensive psychological screenings, clinical interviews, and mental health assessments.
• Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and clinical evaluations.
• Provide psychological counseling, therapeutic interventions, and ongoing mental health support.
• Assess and respond to psychiatric emergencies, behavioral crises, and other urgent mental health concerns.
• Perform regular mental health evaluations of individuals in specialized or restricted housing units.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, social workers, security personnel, and other professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Identify behavioral changes, evaluate potential mental health risks, and recommend appropriate interventions.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards and facility policies.
• Apply evidence-based psychological approaches while maintaining a safe, ethical, and therapeutic environment.

Required Qualifications

• Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Psychology from an accredited college or university.
• Current, unrestricted license to practice psychology in Mississippi.
• Minimum of two years of clinical experience, including at least one year in a comparable clinical position.
• Strong knowledge of psychological assessment, counseling techniques, treatment planning, and crisis intervention.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must meet all applicable employment and facility eligibility requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a correctional facility, detention center, or forensic mental health setting.
• Experience working with individuals with complex behavioral health needs.
